Just trying to get inspired for another project I have to do. Needs work.
I had a lot of fun though, so I know there will be more to come.
Satiny yellow fabric, brown lineny fabric, gray French paper, and iPhone case rubber were scanned for this image.

Holiday Card 2011 Designs
I promised in a previous post that I would post my selected holiday card designs. Since 99% of my cards have been written and mailed, I figure now is a good time.
Here is the card I mailed this year.
This is the other card I designed and my sister promptly told me she wanted to send it this year.
Both cards will be available for sale on my Etsy shop next year, but of course you can contact me if you want to buy some before that.
Additionally, please sign up for my mailing list if you didn't get a holiday card this year but want to get one next year! I will send one!
I really enjoyed making these cards -- I did them all on the computer. Even though I prefer the hands on work, sometimes working directly on the computer is much faster. I scanned fabric and paper and then "cut and paste" the materials digitally.
Happy Holidays!

And I thought the back of this one was pretty darn fun too...I like how the dough folds over the back.

Here's the Detail...
Here's a detail of something I have been working on. It was intended as a piece for a show, but I don't think it will be done in time and I am not thrilled with how it is coming out. Though I do have to say that by looking at just this one part, I am a bit more excited about the potential.P.S. Can you guess what we are making?

It's been a while...
So it has been a while, and I just wanted to let you all know I am still alive and still creating...its just been a lot of projects that I am working out and not ready to share. I am deeply involved in my new studio space now, so I think my projects posted might be few and far between, but when I do post, hopefully it will be larger projects.
These women here (for those of you that know me, can you find me?!) are part of a project on female body image I am working on. Not exactly sure where it is going, but I have some ideas...for now I have been working on silhouettes when I have a free moment. (Ladies, if you want to particpate, I would LOVE you to...just send me a full length picture of you in a bathing suit (or underwear is fine) as well as your height.)
*And yes, I will make this image more diverse (or less Caucasian) eventually. Again, this is a work in progress and I am just color coding for now, need to work out colors later.*
Hopefully I will motivate as well in the next couple days to scan and post my page a day...

I'm Famous!
OK, I'm not really. But, sort of! The other day I happened upon Google Books. Having never really explored this before I played around with it a bit...and did the old "google-ing" of my name. I found my senior project from Tufts, an artist book titled From V-mail to E-mail: Memories and Reflections on World War II, listed. I printed and assembled eight copies in 2001, and sold one to the library at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Anyway, it was pretty cool since I have never pictured myself as a published author, but I even have a call number and everything!Anyway, I was excited to find this listing and it caused me to take my copy of the book off the shelf and look over it again. The book consisted of interviews with my three living grandparents who had all participated in their own way in World War II, and each had their own unique story to tell. It was an amazing project, probably the most meaningful I have ever done. Someday I hope to motivate and turn this book into an electronic presentation to be more accessible to all, as this generation will not be around forever, and I don't want their experiences or lessons to be forgotten.
