You Make My Heart Swim

So. This is the last Valentine or fish post for a while. Since I had come up with a few ideas for mom, I decided I might as well use a couple of them. Flat pool colored cards were on sale at the paper source (what luck!) and so I printed up a pile of these fun cards.

I'll sell some at Magpie and some at my Etsy store or you can contact me directly as always. They are 5 1/4 inches square and come in white envelopes. Being square, they require extra postage -- an extra 20¢ to be exact.

Tomorrow is a snowy day, so I am going to stay at home to catch up on stuff. Hopefully I will have more for you about my actual project as well as Discard 2009 -- the fact that I am not getting any smaller sure is helping with this project!

Etsy Shop: Sale and New Items

Been doing a lot of updating, posting, etc. to my Etsy Shop. I think Etsy is a wonderful concept and I love buying as many of my gifts as possible for independent vendors on Etsy.

I put up the print of the girl reading as a donation to ReBooK. I am very excited about this little print and I hope it can help out my sister's non-profit. I think it is a great cause. I love to read and I wish everyone had the luxury to do so.

Many of the tees I have been are on sale as I try to clear out my inventory. There are currently nine listings (both short and long sleeved tees, and tank tops) that are on sale, but more will be added over the next couple of days. Perfect for this hot weather we have been having.

Also added some new hand printed Moleskine journals. I really enjoyed printing these -- I love the look of screen prints on kraft paper.

Onesies are still being uploaded daily and I have had a few requests for giraffes, cheetahs, guniea pigs (or as I liked to call them when I was younger, "skinny pigs") on the onesies so we will see what comes of that. Also have an ice cream onesie in the works -- it's Scoopalicious! As if an ice cream onesie weren't a long time coming! Personalized onesie offerings are also in the works!

I guess that is it to report right now...

I have added a few onesies and young children's tees to my etsy shop, so feel free to take a peek!

Catching up on my scanning...

So I have a lot of projects I have been working on. I am loving being in the studio and have felt so driven lately -- mostly by the recognition that this work is me and even if I don't create something wonderful or poignant all the time, it is the fact that I am making and loving the process that is so key.

At left are some p
ostcards I am going to sell on etsy, once I print the postcard part on the back...I LOVE printing on chip board. I also love the new inexpensive font Nina I just bought from the Font Garden...I am loving Font Garden. I just bought my own handwriting as a font too...I can't wait for it to come in! She must be busy with it, as I haven't heard a peep since I sent it last Tuesday.

I have also been interested in the brain a lot lately, the way it functions, mainly in light of a tragedy that hit someone very close to me last week.

So I have been working on that chair more. I decided that YES, I would add the texture at the bottom. Below is the original, the best, and the step I took too far and I think it is too muddy (but I only made muddy a couple of the prints before I realized that this was a bad idea. I have also included a variation have done by printing it on some old psychology pages. (Sorry for the color issue with the original chair. I scanned this a while back, adjusted the color and then adjusted my calibration on my monitor today using Spyder -- so awesome! Turns out it was my monitor that was off, not the scan!)

Finally, there is this print I am working on, but I am not sure whether I want to work into it more...Below on left it is as is, and on right is one of the things I COULD do to it. One of the things I am loving so much lately is the activity of working into things with my hands, or altering things on the fly. I am loving the accidents that happen, like the uneven ink, or the printing information I forgot to tape off, or the showing through of an old print. I think it keeps it exciting and allows for the spontaneity I love so much in art.

Hopped off to Hopper.

Took a little break from work today (it was a slow day) and went to the MFA with Mary and Marty ("hi, new friend!") to see a little Edward Hopper. I was pretty inspired by our guy Ed! My favorite Hopper painting, Rooms by the Sea, wasn't there, but he had some good stuff! Wanna know the best part? Hopper worked as a commercial artist for years -- he didn't really get recognition for his art until he was in his forties. I still have time!

I sold a copy of the Roentgenium from my Etsy Shop! Yay!

Day One

So I have decided to start an art blog. I feel like maybe if I can get my art online, I will feel like I am doing something. I am not much of a writer, so don't plan on coming here to read too much, but come here to look at stuff I make (and maybe sometimes stuff that inspires me). With that in mind, I don't create something new each day or even each week, so I don't know how often it will be updated. So, add it to a reader and you'll be kept up-to-date.

Until I scan some stuff, you can see a couple of things about me:
  1. Here is my web site. It is badly in need of an update. It's only some of my old design work. Some day I swear to put more of my best artwork up there too, but since I don't like web designing too much, I haven't been too inspired. A couple of years ago, my great need for a new website inspired this one.
  2. I also sell stuff on etsy under buzzbuzzbee. (Thanks for introducing me to Etsy, Martha!) Here's some stuff from my shop below:

Oh, I guess I can't add another number after this. Oh well. I wish I remembered my HTML. But I don't. Well maybe I will scan those couple of projects I did this week later tonight, if Kevin doesn't put my rowing machine computer back on the rower.
